Effective January 4, 2010 the State of Oregon passed Senate Bill 570. This new law governs how scrap yards will purchase and pay for scrap metal, with an emphasis on non ferrous metals. The law classifies those selling scrap metal into two groups, Commercial and Individual sellers. A Commercial seller is any individual or company registered with the State of Oregon as a qualifying business entity. A Commercial seller can be paid immediately, and in cash for non ferrous metals. An Individual seller is a person, business, or company that is not registered with the State of Oregon as a qualifying business entity. Individual sellers will be paid by check only, mailed three business days after the sale, for all non ferrous metals. Anyone transporting scrap metal to a scrap yard must have in their possession a Metal Transport Certificate. Click the following link to view Senate Bill 570 in its entirety.

We at Pacific Recycling feel it an honor to be able to assist those men and women of Eugene Fire and EMS who risk their own lives daily in serving the citizens of Eugene.
